WAPELHORST ATHLETIC COMPLEX (WAC)

The Wapelhorst Athletic Complex is 4 field complex with
natural grass outfields and artificial turf infields that can
have up to 90’ bases. The outfield fence on all four fields is 305’ to left, center and right field. The complex has the
ability to host baseball, fast pitch softball and slow pitch softball.  It is the first multi-field complex in St. Charles County to have artificial turf infields.

The artificial turf infields were completed in the spring of 2026 and were installed by Byrne & Jones Construction as part of an approx. $2,000,000 renovation of the complex.  Other upgrades added during the renovation:

• Larger, improved, screened player dugouts and player benches.
• New irrigation installed on all 4 fields.
• 2 full-size batting cages that have been split into 4, half-cages for hitting practice and warm-ups.
• Padded backstops on all 4 fields.
• Additional fencing to improve playability and player safety.
• Center field batter’s eye screens.
• Improved access to the complex from the surrounding parking lots.
• Renovated public restrooms.
• Renovated concession stand.
• Renovated large pavilion.
• New maintenance storage facility.

In addition to the Department-run men’s and coed slow pitch softball leagues hosted Monday -Thursday evenings and Sunday evenings, the Parks & Recreation Department has partnered with GMB www.playgmb.com where they will host youth baseball tournaments on the weekends from March – October.

While rental space is limited due to the programmed usage of the facility for park leagues and programs and GMB weekend tournaments, there may be some days and times to rent the fields for practices, camps, and tryouts in the summer months during the week.
